The
The life of James K. Moore,
Sr., is intricately entwined with the early history of the Wind River Indian
Reservation in Wyoming and what would become Fort Washakie, the U.S. Army post
that was established on the reservation. The content of this website
contains his biography, stories and events from the history of Fort Washakie,
and numerous photographs. The photos, some taken by Moore, others by one
of his sons and namesake, James K. Moore, Jr. (Evelyn Bell's father), present
images of Indians, soldiers, and Fort Washakie from approximately 1883 through
the 1930s. The Gallery Index
contains sub-headings
for the photographs, while
Ft. Washakie Tales
include anecdotes and stories about life at the fort.
