10. Painted horse tied to a wagon, Carl Chittim,

According
to Starr Weed, this horse, painted with a sunburst symbol, was probably
used in the sham battle. Mr. Weed recalls that after the battle,
horses and riders paraded through the camps pitched outside the
dance grounds.
Here, tied to a wagon, itself a symbol of changing reservation
life, this horse can be seen as a transitional figure, evidence
of the old life continuing amidst changing times.
